Weiss words: UW assistant
can speak from experience
Kristen Weiss enters first season with Badgers
any, if not, all American youth soccer players dream of playing
for Team USA at some point in
their lives.
To have the distinction of
being regarded as one of the
country's best is one thing,
but having the opportunity to
represent your country is an
honor unlike anything else.

Kristen Weiss was able to don
the Red, White and Blue at a
young age, competing with
the full U.S. women's national team as a 16-year-old and
earning four caps at the Algarve Cup in 2001.
Weiss was somewhat of
a childhood prodigy in the
sport of women's soccer. The
Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, native
earned spots on the U16, U17
and U19 U.S. women's national teams
and was twice named a Parade All-American and female athlete of the year in the
state of Ohio.
Now as an assistant with the UW
women's soccer team, she is living out
her dream and has been a vital addition
to a squad that has an unblemished 2013
record after two straight weekends on
the road.
"Kristen knows what it takes to compete at the highest level, both in college
and on the international scene," UW head
coach Paula Wilkins said. "As a former
player, her experience with the national
teams at all levels has only enhanced the
training environment and playing experience for our players."
CLUTCH CARA
● To the surprise of no one, Cara Walls
has been the Badgers' workhorse
through four games in 2013. Not only
is the junior tied for first in the conference in goals (5), but she is also the
conference's leader in game-winning
scores (3). Walls earned the gamewinning goal in all three of UW's
three-consecutive wins.
CONSISTENT KINLEY
● Sophomore Kinley McNicoll leads the
Badgers in assists (4) and is tied for
third in the Big Ten in that area.
