Former Wisconsin rowers had a hand in four of the eight medals won by the United States at the just completed 2013 World
Rowing Championships in Chungju, South Korea. The haul?
Gold for Vicky Opitz in the women's eight, silver for Kristin Hedstrom in the lightweight double sculls and bronze medals for
brothers Ross James (men's eight) and Grant James (men's four).
Andrew Gallagher also raced in the men's quad, placing 13th.
FOOTBALL
Wisconsin unleashed four scoring plays of 50-plus yards
against UMass, becoming one of just four BCS conference programs to accomplish the feat in the last 10 years.

The Badgers landed three players
on the Pepperdine Classic AllTournament team after winning
the invitational with a 3-0 mark. Junior Ellen Chapman was named the
MVP while juniors Courtney Thomas
and Dominique Thompson were
named to the all-tournament team.

The Badgers are 7-0-2 so far in 2013-14. After football (1-0) posted its season-opening win on Saturday and volleyball
wrapped up its 3-0 start to the season by earning the tournament title at the Pepperdine Classic, both the men's soccer
(0-0-1) and women's soccer (3-0-1) programs also earned ties over the weekend to continue the undefeated start.
