FACULTY ADVISORS
Faculty advisors play an important role in student
clubs and organizations across all four campuses.
Their primary responsibility is to guide and assist
the members in the mission and goals of the
organization. In addition, advisors aid in personal
growth of each and every student involved. Here is a
glimpse at some of JWU's remarkable faculty advisors:
PROVIDENCE Campus associate professors Oscar
Chilabato and Christine Ure serve as faculty advisors
for the School of Business Ad Team, which has placed
fourth nationally in 2013 and 2014 at the National
Student Advertising Competition and fi rst in regional
competitions for the last four years.
Chilabato, who is a great believer in the university's
philosophy of "learning by doing," says "what these
kids learn over the months leading up to the pitch is,
basically, everything. I could not be more proud of
this group of students; they are great representatives
of the university and our advertising program."
Last year's Ad Team created a $10 million advertising
campaign for Mary Kay with the goal of appealing to
a younger and more diverse demographic than the
company is currently attracting.
Ad Team members attribute their success to the
stellar coaching and mentorship of their advisors —
and NORTH MIAMI DECA members feel the same
way about theirs.
