Following his lecture to the campus community, Peter H. Coors '97 Hon., chairman of the Molson Coors Brewing Company and MillerCoors, poses with the JWU Denver men's soccer team. Coors was honored as the Centennial Distinguished Visiting Professor, and he left the crowd with this bit of advice: "Be willing to stand by your principles to make things happen." Denver Campus' 2014-15 WIGIS leaders and coordinators, resident assistants and student assistants for Student Involvement & Leadership. STUDENT LEADER OPPORTUNITIES A great way for your student to live the Wildcat Way is to strive for a student leader position on campus. The application and selection process will begin in the winter term. Encourage your student to consider one of the positions described below — an engaged student is a successful student! Resident assistants (RAs) create an inclusive, fun and exciting environment within the residence halls. RAs are selected for their leadership abilities and are dedicated to creating a positive and inclusive residence hall community. Wildcat Interest Groups for Incoming Students (WIGIS) leaders support first- year students in a small group setting and are selected for their leadership skills, knowledge of JWU and dedication to working with new students. Orientation leaders (OL)/WIGIS coordinators provide guidance for new students and families and facilitate summer orientation activities. OLs transition into WIGIS coordinators at the start of the academic year. WIGIS coordinators are role models and provide support for new students and WIGIS leaders. Campus Activities Board (CAB) and Student Government Association (SGA) select leadership positions in the spring. CAB positions are chosen through an interview process, while SGA positions are elected offices. Additionally, student clubs select new leadership early in the spring for the following year.
