Founders Gertrude Johnson and Mary Wales
launched a new school in Providence that
year — one that reflected their high standards,
strong business principles, and professionally
focused education. Their vision created what
JWU remains today: an institution with its eye
on the future, preparing students who are
passionate about their careers, primed for
advancement, and ready for a successful and
rewarding life.
JWU honored its roots and accomplishments
with a yearlong centennial celebration
launched last September. Events at every
campus marked the milestone with pride
and spirit.
