Starting the streak
The UW men's cross country team won its first Big Ten cross country title since 1996 and set in motion a streak of championships the Badgers extended to 12 straight in 2010. UW finished first with 38 points, just two points ahead of Michigan (40). Senior Matt Downin won his sec- ond-consecutive Big Ten individual title.

CELEBRATING WOMEN'S ATHLETICS: More than 600 people crammed the floor of the UW Field House to honor 10 years of women's participation in athletics at UW. Kit Saunders-Nordeen and former UW and Olympic rower Carie Graves were inducted into the newly initiated Women's Athletics Hall of Fame.
October 27, 1985 SPEED DEMONS: Tony Granato and Jim Johannson tied the record for the fastest two goals scored in UW men's hockey history when they lit the lamp six seconds apart at Lowell.
October 30, 1993 BOWL BERTH: The No. 21 Badgers beat No. 24 Michigan, 13-10, en route to a winning season and a Rose Bowl berth, in one of the most memorable games in Camp Randall.
