CAN'T HOLD HIM DOWN "You're thinking, 'Maybe there's an outside chance someone catch- es this.' Naaaw, you doubt it. But the ball is still in the air and all of a sudden it comes down in the hands of a Michigan State player. "It was too bad that it had to be settled in that kind of fashion. But we'll learn a lot from that game. Sometimes you really do learn more from a loss than a win. "I think everything that hap- pened in that game should make us a better team and a stronger team from here forward. That loss won't break us.'' Butrym liked the way everyone responded at halftime; especially considering how Michigan State had taken advantage of numerous mistakes in the second quarter to grab the momentum. "We took a personal inven- tory,'' he said. "It was like, 'OK, this is the kind of adversity that we haven't faced yet this year.' I spoke with Aaron Henry, 'This is the time when we need to be lead- ers.' "Everybody stepped up, including guys who typically aren't very vocal, like Mike Taylor. You could feel that it was contagious. "And there was never the belief in the second half that we were out of it. As a team, we got back into the game. But unfortunately the ball literally didn't bounce our way in the end. "You move on from it, but you learn from it. That's the mindset we're taking.'' How will the Badgers bounce back at Ohio State on Saturday night? "These kinds of games can define you one way or another,'' Butrym said.
