Wisconsin opens the Big Ten season at home on Sept. 27 against No. 21 Purdue, one of eight conference teams ranked in the top 25 of the national coaches' poll. at NC State Invitational vs. VCU 9:30 a.m. vs. Colgate 4 p.m. CHAPMAN, MORALES HONORED ● Juniors Ellen Chapman and Deme Morales were named to the InnTowner Invitational all-tournament team. Chapman, a 6-foot-4 right-side hitter, averaged at team-best 3.92 kills per set while hitting .317 on the weekend. She led the Badgers with 17 kills vs. Milwaukee and 13 kills vs. Bowling Green. Chapman also added a careerbest five service aces against UWM. Morales stepped into the starting outside hitter role in place of the injured Annemarie Hickey. Morales, a 5-7 outside hitter, averaged 3.08 kills per set on the weekend, including a career-best 17 putaways vs. Kansas on Sept. 13. COMING UP ACES ● One of the keys to the Badgers' success this season has been their serving. The Badgers have 51 aces on the season, or 1.50 per set. Juniors Ellen Chapman and Courtney Thomas have 13 and 12 service aces, respectively. UW has been aced only 15 times this year, an average of just 0.44 per set.
