Poll position: Badgers
earn spot in national poll
UW's first appearance in rankings since 2002
s the wins continue to
pile up, so do the expectations for the Wisconsin
men's soccer team.
Not only do the Badgers
stand as the Big Ten's last unbeaten team, but they have also
made their first appearance
in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America
(NSCAA) poll in over a decade.

sin is one of just two Big Ten
squads to crack the NSCAA
rankings, joining Northwestern (No. 16) and has earned its
first spot in the poll in 2002.
The Badgers' ascension has
been well-documented. Following a tied at the University
of Missouri-Kansas City in its
2013 opener, UW returned
home to top Western Michigan
before taking down DePaul in

a thrilling 3-2 overtime win that received
much attention across the national college landscape.
What would seem to be the added
pressure of trying to protect an unbeaten
record and living up to a top-25 national
ranking is nothing more than another
obstacle for head coach John Trask and
his team.
"The recognition is great and I couldn't
be prouder of the way our guys have
handled themselves so far this season,
but we still have a ways to go," Trask said.
"We have embraced the challenges of
playing on the road and battling back after being now, but now is the time when
we really find out the true core of this
team's mentality and how good we can
actually be this season."
IN THE NICK OF TIME
● Senior Nick Jones and freshman Nick
Janus may be on opposite ends of the
totem pole, but the duo has been a big
reason UW is off to an unbeaten start.
Jones, a St. Louis, Mo., native, earned his
first career goal in UW's home-opening
win over Western Michigan on Sept. 6.
Meanwhile, Janus has tallied scores in
each of UW's last two wins.
ROAD TESTED
● The Badgers remain away from home
this weekend, continuing their fivegame road swing at the UIC Classic in
Chicago.
