"It has been difficult at times for a variety of reasons: lack of depth, injuries, and youth," said Libby. "e lack of experience has been hard, but gratifying and fun. As tough as everything has been, there is some- thing about them as a group that makes you want to go back in there and bring them to the next level. ey believe in this team. "ey are a fun group and they are all very different; they all bring something to the team that is unique." Young Hawkeyes Finding Consistency By Patrick Sojka T he theme for the University of Iowa wom- en's gymnastics team entering the 2014 campaign was consistency. Now, the Hawk- eyes are starting to find that consistency they longed for. Following two uncharacteristically low scores to open the season, Iowa posted a 194.675 at No. 6 Georgia on Jan. 20. Since then, the Hawkeyes have posted a 193.250 or higher each time out. Iowa registered a 193.250 on Jan. 24 against Ne- braska in its home opener before notching a 195.050 at Illinois on Jan. 31. Iowa opened the month of February with a 193.750 at Michigan State on Feb. 7, and followed it up with a season- best 195.075 against Ohio State on Feb. 14 inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena. "I was talking to my husband who came to the first meet and then has not seen us since our last meet against Ohio State," said Libby. "He basically said, 'those aren't even the same kids.' "ere is a very different dynamic, and what these kids have done from the beginning to now is in- sanely amazing. No one could possibly understand what this team is up against. Many are trying to get it and I know a lot of people are putting stuff out there, but they don't know. e reason they're doing well right now is because they compete for their teammates, love this team, and the opportu- nity to represent the University of Iowa."
