Utah enters the 2018 season with a No. 15 ranking in the USA Today/NFCA Preseason Coaches Poll and returns a pair of seniors in Katie Donovan and Miranda Viramontes. Viramontes was a Pac-12 first team honoree last season after going 14-4 with a 1.51 ERA, third- best in the Pac-12. She also ranked 10th nationally in walks per seven innings (19 in 115 2/3 IP). Viramontes threw a perfect game vs. CSU Bakersfield and also turned in complete-game victories over No. 13 Tennessee and No. 10 UCLA. Donovan earned All-Pac-12 honors for a third-straight season and has 55 wins for her career, fifth most in Utah history. Donovan also ranked eighth in the Pac-12 in strikeouts, sur- passing 400 K's for her career. The Utes also return Kelly Martinez and BreOnna Castaneda.
