BY THE NUMBERS Hilary Knight seeks to make another U.S. national team at this week’s Women’s National Festival. 3 7 WOMEN’S SOCCER | Wisconsin seeks its third-consecutive NCAA tournament berth in 2011. UW has made three-straight appearances twice in its history, qualifying for NCAA competition four years in a row each from 1988-1991 and 1993-96. All told, the Bad- gers have participated in the NCAA tourna- ment 16 times in their history. VOLLEYBALL | UW’s 2011 vol- leyball recruiting class is ranked as the seventh best nationally, ac- cording to PrepVolleyball.com. The Badgers signed Ellen Chapman (Glenview, Ill.) Crystal Graff (Madison, Wis.), Deme Morales (Amherst, Ohio), Courtney Thomas (DeKalb, Ill.), Katie Kvas (Eagan, Minn) and Caroline Workman (Los Angeles). 40 9 FOOTBALL | UW football head coach Bret Bielema was 40 years old when he led the Badgers to a share of the Big Ten Conference title last season, becom- ing the youngest coach to win the league championship since Michigan’s Bo Schem- bechler in 1969. WOMEN’S HOCKEY | A total of nine players with ties to Wisconsin have been selected to participate in the 2011 USA Hockey Women’s National Festival. That includes six current Badgers that will compete for spots on the 2011 U.S. Women’s Select Team that will compete in the Eight Nations Tournament later this month. The event runs Aug. 10-20 in Blaine, Minn.
