Suzy Favor set a school record in the mile with her win and time of 4:27.31 at the Jack in the Box Invitational at UCLA’s Drake Stadium in Los Angeles. Her time was the fastest of the year by an American outdoors. Favor wrapped up her career at UW with school records in seven different indoor and outdoor events.

CARRYING THE COLORS: The Beijing Olympic Games began on 08/08/08 with four former UW athletes taking part: Beau Hoopman, Micah Boyd and Matt Imes (assistant coach) in rowing and Matt Tegenkamp in track and field. Hoopman and Byod earned bronze medals as members of the U.S. men’s eight with a time of 5:25.34, while Tengen- kamp finished 13th overall for the U.S. in the 5,000 meters, clocking in at 13:33.13.
