UW opens Big Ten play on road at Penn State
ith the non-conference
season in the rear view
mirror for the moment, the University of Wisconsin men's soccer program
sets its sights on the 2013 Big

this Badgers team feels prepared to tackle any and all obstacles following a solid start
to the 2013 season.
UW defined its season early
on, following up a tie in the
season opener at the University of Missouri-Kansas City
with a weekend sweep of both
Western Michigan and DePaul
in their first of two regularseason home games.

The DePaul match became infamous
for its thrilling ending, where the Badgers displayed their resilience by earning a pair of goals in a three-minute span
to upend the Blue Demons in overtime.
That sequence served as a rallying
point for Wisconsin, as the team proved
they can handle the adversity of going
down a goal and remain poised enough
to finish off a tough opponent.
The Badgers used the momentum
from that weekend to run off threestraight wins, all on the road, and earn a
spot in the NSCAA national rankings for
the first time in over a decade.
Now with the conference season looming, the Badgers have the confidence and
the personnel to make some noise in one
of the country's most traditionally competitive leagues.
GOAL-ORIENTED
● Wisconsin has shown flashes of its
dominant offensive array during the
first seven matches of the season.
Along with leading the Big Ten in goals
(16), the Badgers have had multi-goal
games in four of their seven matches
in 2013.
Their most impressive outing, and
arguably the team's most complete
win of 2013, came on Friday, Sept. 20,
against IPFW. UW tallied five goals
while allowing just one late in the
match.
