They created a legacy
and theyve handed it off
to us to run with it, Dekker
said of the seniors. Now its
our job and our turn to take
what they started and build
upon it.
DAVID STLUKA
know something didnt go your way. I wish I
could say Back to the gym and we could correct it for the next game.
But we dont have the next game.
What the Badgers didnt have when they
needed it the most (toughness), or what they
didnt do when they had the opportunities to
do so (score) will only serve as off-season motivation, he said.
I think the younger guys on our team
learned a lot from this ride, from this journey,
so only positives can come out of whats to
come for us, Dekker rationalized.
Ive said it all year. There are peaks and
valleys to a basketball season.
We hit one of those valleys (against Ole
Miss).
Before leaving the locker room, Dekker
showed his respect to the seniors.
I hugged them all and thanked them and
I told them I loved them, he said. They
taught me so much through this ride. They
brought me in and showed me the ropes and
how things work here.
I look up to them for a lot of things and I
thanked each and every one of them for the
memories that theyve given me and how they
treated me and all the younger guys in the
program.
They created a legacy and theyve handed
it off to us to run with it. Now its our job and
our turn to take what they started and build
upon it.
By the sounds of it, the program is in very
good hands.
