many things. For most, it
is the start of a new season
and the end of winter. For
the Badgers, spring signals
softball. With more than
50 games on the schedule,
spring in Wisconsin cant
come soon enough.
But, UW will have to wait
a little bit longer to get on

the field in Madison. Winter has hung around, forcing
UW to postpone its home
opener and delaying the
start of the season at Goodman Diamond.
Because of the weather,
the Badgers will continue action on the road for a couple
weeks longer than planned.

Yvette Healy considered when planning the 2013 schedule and, so far,
the Badgers have responded with an
impressive start, playing well away
from Wisconsin.
We have been on the road a lot in
the pre-Big Ten season and to be able
to continue playing well on the road
is really important, especially with
the weather, Healy said.
We know we are going to lose
some home games and home series
(due to weather), even in the Big Ten.
So it is really important to play well
on the road.
The Badgers have played well on
the road for 28 games, posting a 25-3
record away from Goodman Diamond. UW is now scheduled to play
34 games before hitting the dirt in
Madison.
Trips to California, Florida and
North Carolina have bolstered the
Badgers tournament resume. In the
first RPI ranking of the season, UW
checks in at No. 21. The Badgers are
the only team in the top 25 to have
not played a home game, and out of
teams in the top 50, will be the last to
open its season at home.
Wisconsin is proving it can win on
the road, now it just needs the chance
to prove it can win at home.
