J
ared Berggren still has a fond recollection
of his first Senior Day at Wisconsin, during which he was little more than a spectator; one of two impressionable freshmen who had opted for a redshirt, and
another year of much-needed development. The
other was Ryan Evans. Although the specifics of a
24-point win over Indiana in the 2009 regular-season finale may have faded, Berggren had no trouble
remembering what was running through his mind
when the two most prominent members of that senior class Joe Krabbenhoft and Marcus Landry
were introduced for a final time at the Kohl Center.
I remember the feeling as they came walking out
Joe and Marcus with their parents and family on
their arms I remember it like it was yesterday,
said Berggren, who also remembered two other
seniors, Kevin Gullikson and Morris Cain, getting

equally warm receptions even though they carried
different profiles than Krabbenhoft and Landry. I
remember the crowd cheering, the music playing
and the emotions that came with all of that. I remember thinking how bittersweet it was then. Obviously, youre happy for them and all theyve accomplished but for that to come to an end
was so sad, which is how most seniors would
complete that thought.
Berggren paused and said, Now to think its my
turn is crazy.
Hes not alone thinking that. Berggren, Evans,
Mike Bruesewitz, Dan Fahey and J.D. Wise will be
making their final Kohl Center appearance Sunday
afternoon when the Badgers close out their home
schedule against Purdue. There will be a pregame
introduction and post-game video and tribute to
the seniors.
