1983 champions return
UW celebtrates 30th anniversary of 4th title
I
t was the first year of Jeff
Sauer's 20-year tenure
as head coach at Wisconsin
and the first year following
legendary head coach Bob
Johnson.
Expectations were tempered with the departure
of major players from
the Badgers' 1981 NCAA
championship team and
the 1982 NCAA runnersup, but after a slow start,
the team picked up steam
in late November.
Winners of 24 0f their
last 30 games, the team
capped the season with a
6-2 national championship
game victory over Harvard
in Grand Forks, N.D.

are reunited during the
first intermission of Friday's game.
