UW tames No. 7 Lions in
best win in four years

the Badgers when they
upset then-No. 7 Penn
State, 63-61, in the Kohl
Center on Jan. 31.
It was UW's first victory
over a ranked team since
beating No. 20 Michigan
State, 48-45, on Jan. 14,
2010. It was also the highestranked team that UW has

beaten since taking down No.
6 Baylor, 59-58, on Nov. 29,
2008.
In program history, the
Badgers have now defeated
nine top-10 teams.
The win also handed Penn
State its first Big Ten loss of
the season and ended the
Lady Lions' 11-game winning
streak.
» Wisconsin has the ninth toughest
schedule in the nation, according
to the Jeff Sagarin/CBN Women's
College Basketball Ratings released Feb. 6. Schedule strength
is based on games between all 345
Division I teams.
The Badgers lead the Big Ten,
with Illinois ranking second at
15th. Iowa (20th) and Nebraska
(24th) also rank in the top 25.
Eleven of 12 conference teams
rank among the top 58 teams in
the nation.
Surpassing last season
» The win over Penn State on Jan. 31
gave the Badgers 10 wins this year,
surpassing last season's win total.
Wisconsin equaled its victory total from 2011-12 with the win over
Ohio State on Jan. 20.
UW was 9-20 in head coach Bobbie Kelsey's first season. Wisconsin
needs six more wins to equal the
16-win total from 2010-11.
