onceding 10 goals in the first four games of the season prompted UW head coach John Trask to switch things up a bit on defense. Even though the Badgers currently rank second in the Big Ten for goals scored (9), its going to be hard to win when allowing more than two goals per game.

faze defensive Badgers Game against Georgetown fosters confidence
After a 3-1 loss to Florida International last Friday — the third time in four games the Badgers allowed three goals — Trask decided some- thing had to change. That change came in the
shape of a different defen- sive formation in last Sun- day's match against No. 13 Georgetown.
ferent midfield formation, led to a much more stingy back line, and the Badgers held the Hoyas scoreless for the majority of the game. The lone goal was a tough one for Wisconsin, as it came after Chase Rau made a great save on a penalty kick. However, the PK shooter, already strides ahead of the defense, easily collected the rebound and scored. Expect to see a stronger defensive showing from here on out for the Badgers. Confidence in the new for- mation, mixed with getting a rhythm set as the season progresses, will only lead to more success for Wisconsin.
Big Ten action opens next week
» The Badgers open Big Ten play when they host Penn State at 7:30 p.m. on Sept. 21. Wisconsin then hits the road the following Wednesday and returns to non- conference play a match against in-state foe Marquette.
