COACHES BIOS COACHES BIOS THE REEVES FILE FRESNO STATE EQUESTRIAN STEPHANIE REEVES Stephanie Reeves returns as Fresno State's Head Western Coach for the 2011-12 season. She will be coaching both the Western Reining and the Western Horse- manship. Reeves joined the Fresno State equestrian team coaching staff in the summer of 2005 as the Assistant Coach for Western competition. From 2005–10 Reeves produced many out- standing Western Reining riders and guided multiple women to MVP honors in the rein- ing event. Reeves coached Fresno State All- Decade Reining Rider Keri Blackledge along with Jillian Tebbe and Sara Barnes who were also nominees for the award. She has helped to lead the 'Dogs to six consecutive Varsity Equestrian National Champion- ship appearances. In 2010-11 the Bulldogs also received the third highest team GPA of all NCAA equestrian teams under her joint lead- ership with co-coach Julia Scrivani. In her role with the program, she has gained national acclaim. Reeves is a member of the Varsity Equestrian Selection Committee and the Chair of the Sponsorship & Finance Com- mittee. On the home front, Reeves is serving her third year of a four year term on the Aca- demic Senate at Fresno State. For the 2006-07 season, Reeves compiled HEAD WESTERN COACH ........................................ the first records for Varsity Equestrian of competition statistics for all teams and individuals. Now statistics are compiled each year and used to select and seat teams and individuals for the National Champion- ships. She presented a proposal to the na- tional committee to begin the first coaches' poll for the sport, which was adopted and implemented in the fall of 2008. .................................................... COACHING EXPERIENCE FRESNO STATE, 2004-10, ASSISTANT COACH FRESNO STATE, 2011-PRESENT, WESTERN HEAD COACH Reeves, a 2003 graduate of Fresno State, with a Bachelor of Science in Kinesiology, was the graduate assistant for the equestrian team from 2004-05 while working on her Master's Degree in Sport Psychology. She received her Master's degree in May 2005. Reeves was se- lected to present her Graduate Project at the 2005 AASP (Association for Ap- plied Sport Psychology) Conference in Van- couver, B.C. Reeves was a competitive member of the equestrian team from 1998-03, showing in both English and Western events. In addition, she competed on the horse judging team for two years and earned a fifth place finish in Advanced Western Horsemanship at the 2002 IHSA National Championships. Reeves has also competed in hunter jumpers, equitation, western pleasure, horsemanship, showman- ship, halter and trail. 2011 22 EQUESTRIAN 2012 23
