SENIOR STAFF ADMINISTRATION ADMINISTRATION SENIOR STAFF FRESNO STATE FOOTBALL BETSY MOSHER DEPUTY DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS/ SWA Betsy Mosher is entering her seventh year at Fresno State and first as Deputy Director of Athletics after serving for the previous six years as the Senior Associate Athletics Director for Administration and Program Integrity. In her expanded role, Mosher assumes formal i n oversight of all sport supervisors, greater supervisory capacity regarding student-athlete welfare issues, and is formally defined as the department's top administrator the absence of the Director of Athletics. Mosher remains the Bulldogs' NCAA Senior Woman Administrator. During her tenure at Fresno State, Mosher's guidance has been a key component in the athletics department's unprecedented achievement by the student-athlete community in the areas of academic development , NCAA compliance, gender equity, sports medicine, strength and conditioning, and student-athlete services. She also plays a critical role in representing the institution at the conference level and will oversee the Bulldogs' transition to the Mountain West Conference. Mosher came to Fresno State after spending three years (2002-05) as the Associate Athletic Director for Athletic Administration and Compliance Services at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst. With an extensive background that includes prominent leadership positions at three NCAA Division I institutions as well as with the Big Ten Office and the NCAA, Mosher's duties at Fresno State include the supervision of five Bulldogs' athletics programs (baseball, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's basketball) as well as oversight of the department's NCAA and Western Athletic Conference compliance programs, student-athlete services, the athletic training and the strength and conditioning departments. Mosher will serve as the SWA for conference and NCAA representation. At UMass she was a member of the athletics department senior management team and was responsible for the formulation of the department's strategic plan. Assisting with a campus response to a second round NCAA self study, Mosher oversaw the department's compliance program, including the formulation of a systems manual and an upgrade of the recruitment monitoring system. Additionally, Mosher oversaw the admission process for student-athletes as well as served as a department liaison for personnel actions during a six month transition period. Mosher, who supervised women's tennis, baseball and cross country and track and field at Massachusetts, was a liaison to the Athletic Council's Subcommittees for Compliance and for Vision. An NCAA Peer Reviewer, she was named to the NCAA Academic, Eligibility and Compliance Cabinet in July 2005. Prior to UMass, Mosher spent six years (1996-2002) as the Senior Associate Athletic Director for Administration and Compliance/SWA at Arizona State University. A member of ASU's athletic senior management team, she oversaw the school's compliance, academic and student services as well as the personnel areas. She also supervised the sports of volleyball, softball, soccer and wrestling while working closely with the women's basketball program. Mosher served as a liaison to Arizona State's general counsel, the school's Intercollegiate Athletics Board, the Pacific-10 Conference and the NCAA. Representing the Sun Devils on numerous Pac-10 and NCAA committees, she was the 1999-2000 vice president of the Pac-10 council and former NCAA softball committee member. Mosher also assisted with the second round certification process at ASU and served as the OCR liaison. Prior to Arizona State, Mosher spent seven years (1989-96) at Northwestern. With five years as an assistant athletics director and two as an associate athletics director for intercollegiate services, she also served as the department's SWA. Her primary duties for the Wildcats included oversight of compliance, academic services and athletics admissions as well as supervision of the baseball, women's basketball, tennis and swimming programs. She was chair of the Big 10 Women's Administrator's Group and the Conference's Rules and Legislation Committee. Prior to Northwestern, Mosher was a legislative assistant at the Big Ten Conference office (1988-89) and also served as an NCAA compliance representative (1986-88). Prior to her move into administration, Mosher was the head women's basketball and softball coach at California State (Pa.) from 1980-85 and began her collegiate athletics career as the women's basketball coach at Wisconsin-Whitewater (1977-79). Receiving her Bachelor of Science degree in Education from Illinois State in 1972, a Master of Arts degree in Physical Education from Northern Colorado in 1976, and a Director's Degree from Indiana University (1986), Mosher also was selected to attend the NACWAA Institute for Athletics Executive in the summer of 2002. Mosher is a current member of NACDA and NACWAA. PAUL LADWIG SENIOR ASSOCIATE A.D./ EXTERNAL RELATIONS Paul Ladwig enters his seventh year at Fresno State and first as the Senior Associate Athletics for External after serving for the previous six years as the Associate Athletics Director over External Relations and Broadcasting. In addition to continuing his previous role as a department spokesperson and oversight of advertising, communications, marketing, merchandising, licensing, ticket sales, video services and web operations, Ladwig assumes shared oversight of the Bulldog Foundation. This reorganization allows for the integration and merging of all external communication and outreach under Ladwig's direction. Throughout his time with the Dogs, he has consistently collaborated to promote and enhance Fresno State Athletics with stronger media partnerships, the addition of a new videoboard at Bulldog Stadium and the creation of environmentally-conscious virtual team guides. Since joining Fresno State in November 2005, Ladwig has found new ways to promote and enhance Fresno State Athletics in the venues the department controls. With the creation of the Bulldog Sports Network, Ladwig increased the exposure of Fresno State Athletics through additional stations for both radio and television. With these new media partnerships, the department is finding fresh ways to tell Fresno State stories. His vision continues to bring fans superior story-telling that incorporate the latest technologies. Collaborating with media rights holder as the department's liaison to Learfield Sports' Bulldog Sports Properties, new and additional programming for radio and television were developed. Fans will continue to enjoy Victor E. Bulldog as he starts his fifth year as the living four-legged mascot of Fresno State Athletics. People around the world curious about the Bulldogs will continue to log onto a constantly updating Gobulldogs.com website with expanded content, video and increased participatory site interaction. Fresno State Athletics Communications took the lead nationally in developing a paperless media guide in 2009. Environmental awareness, cost containment, and the ability to provide instant information to the media are several factors in the implementation of this paperless delivery system. With a vast and varied career, Ladwig came to Fresno State after serving as the Assistant Athletics Director for Creative Services at Ohio University. At Ohio University he was charged with ensuring an effective, consistent and progressive approach from game-day activities to marketing to image enhancement. Ohio saw a record-breaking sellout crowd at Peden Stadium when the Bobcats defeated Pittsburgh on ESPN in their 2005 home opener. Innovative, Ladwig was instrumental in creating the Ohio Sports Network, the refinement of Ohio University's web presence and the production of programming for public television. From Network Television in Los Angeles to the slopes of the 1998 Winter Olympics in Nagano, Japan to documentary work in Southeast Asia, the department grew considerably under Ladwig's direction. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ MARTINA BUCKLEY ASSOCIATE A.D./ BUSINESS OPERATIONS Martina Buckley joined the Fresno State Athletics department in the summer of 2007 as Associate Athletics Director for Business Operations. She serves as the Chief Financial Officer for the department and its $23 million budget. In addition, she serves as the sports administrator for soccer, swimming and diving, softball, and women's lacrosse. Buckley came to Fresno State after serving as the Director of Business Operations at the University of Kentucky, a position she held since June of 2006. While at Kentucky, she supervised the day-to-day operations of the business office and its five employees and assisted with the department budget preparation and monitoring. Prior to her tenure with the Wildcats, she served as the Director of Business Operations for the athletics department at Ohio University. She oversaw the department's accounting, budget and expense/revenue forecasting. She served as a community relations intern with the NHL's Nashville Predators from 2003-04. From 2000-2003 she served as a senior internal auditor at Healthcare Corporation of America, where she audited hospitals and healthcare facilities. A 2000 graduate of Murray State University, she earned a Master's degree in Sports Administration from Belmont University in 2004. 2011 164 as JOHN KRIEBS ASSOCIATE A.D./ FACILITIES & OPERATIONS John J. Kriebs is in his 11th year at Fresno State, serving operations. During his tenure, he spearheaded Fresno State's transition into the $103 million Save Mart Center, coordinating construction and facility projects including the locker rooms, equipment and training rooms and the Bulldog Shop. Recently, he has overseen the construction of a state-of-the-art aquatics venue, lacrosse and soccer field, softball indoor batting cages and the planning for a new sports medicine center. Kriebs came to Fresno State after serving as an assistant athletics director at Southwest He serves as the liaison for campus planning, parking, kinesiology and the concession Missouri State from 1994-99. While there, he oversaw nine Olympic sports as well as budgeting, personnel and scheduling. Prior to his position at SMS, Kriebs was the Bears' wrestling head coach from 1989-94. He was highly successful in that capacity, earning Midwest Regional Coach of the Year honors in 1994 and guiding the program's first ever Division I All-American in any sport. In all, he coached 12 NCAA qualifiers and broke 15 school records. Kriebs' coaching career began at the University of Northern Iowa, where he served as an assistant from 1984-89 and helped guide the Panthers to five top 10 finishes. The Dubuque, Iowa, native is a 1984 graduate of Northern Iowa, where he was a two-time All-American wrestler. As a senior, he was the nation's No. 1 ranked heavyweight. He qualified for the NCAA's all four years and was picked to wrestle in the prestigious All-Star Wrestling Showcase. Kriebs has a wife, Geri, a daughter, Jordan, and a son, Jack. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- DR. SUSAN GUTKIND ASSISTANT A.D./ STUDENT-ATHLETE SERVICES Dr. Susan Gutkind is in her sixth year at Fresno State as Assistant Athletics Director for Student-Athlete Services after joining the department in July 2006. Gutkind oversees academic and student services operations with an emphasis on academic counseling, life skills and career preparation. Additionally, she supervises programs such as ACE, study table, Big Heroes/Little Heroes, and Student-Athlete Advisory Council. She acts a liaison to various faculty and campus offices. During her tenure, Fresno State has consistently elevated its Academic Progress Rates and implemented effective strategies that improved graduation rates. Prior to coming to Fresno State, Gutkind spent the two years at Tennessee Tech as the Assistant Athletics Director for Academics and Student-Athlete Welfare and served as the Senior Woman Administrator. She has worked as a Play It Smart academic coach at Austin-East High School in Knoxville, served as a graduate assistant in the University of Tennessee women's athletics department and spent nine years as a teacher at St. Clement School in Hayward, Calif., Gutkind earned a Bachelor of Science degree from UC-Riverside in Psychobiology in 1988, a masters' degree in Educational Psychology from Nebraska in 1990 and a Ph.D. in Sport and Leisure Studies with an emphasis in Sport Psychology from the University of Tennessee in 2003. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ DAN MCLEAN ASSISTANT A.D./ DEVELOPMENT Dan McLean was promoted to serve as Fresno State's Assistant Athletics Director for Development in July 2011. McLean manages the day-to-day operation of the Bulldog Foundation, including the annual fund, major gifts and sports clubs. He is also the administration's operational liaison with the BDF Board of Directors and assumes responsibility for the organization, which is in its sixth year of its current structure and continues to evolve. In his previous role as Fresno State's Director of Major Gifts during the 2010-11 academic year, McLean was a driving force behind the Bulldog Stadium FieldTurf project, other capital campaigns and significant donations for student- athlete scholarships. His leadership helped produce record levels of philanthropic fundraising, including the number of Green V Society members as well as total dollars raised. McLean's experience also includes a year as the Regional Director of Development for the Oregon State University Beaver Athletic Student Fund. He received his bachelor's degree from Central Michigan University in 2004 and master's degree from Wayne State University in 2007. 2012 165 bidding and management. Kriebs is responsible for NCAA and WAC tournament o f JOHN LUCIER ASSISTANT A.D./ COMPLIANCE John Lucier is in his sixth at Fresno State as the Assistant Athletics Director for Compliance after joining the department in October 2006. Lucier oversees all compliance-related initiatives at Fresno State. He is a lead administrator in charge of the implementation and maintenance of the ACS recruiting database that places an emphasis on proactive and streamlined measures for compliance and institutional control. Before coming to Fresno State, Lucier worked at the University Oregon for 16 years, including over ten years as the Grant-in- Aid Coordinator with oversight of all athletics and non-athletics financial aid, and the National Letter of Intents. He was also the point person in an innovative text book program that helped reduce the potential for NCAA violations which also resulted in significant financial savings to the department. The same program was implemented by Fresno State soon after. Lucier earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Recreation and Tourism Management in 1992 from the University of Oregon and also attended graduate school in Eugene, Ore. Lucier is an avid outdoorsman and has three sons, Nathan, Riley and Brady. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- RYAN REGGIANI ASSISTANT A.D./ EXTERNAL RELATIONS Ryan Reggiani was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for External Relations on in August 2011. Reggiani is in his third year in the Department of Athletics and now manages the day-to-day functions of communications, marketing and video production With significant experience and strong ties to the San Joaquin Valley, he has covered high-profile colleges in some of the nation's top media markets and placed an emphasis on maximizing new and existing revenue streams, social media platforms while providing engaging content with innovative technology. Reggiani most recently served as the lead marketing coordinator for the Bulldog football program after three and a half years as an Assistant Media Relations Director with the University of Hawai'i Athletics Department. While at UH, Reggiani developed and managed the communications strategy for their sport teams, including the Hawai'i women's volleyball team that consistently ranked in the top five in the nation and advanced to the 2010 Final Four. Prior to his time on the Islands, Reggiani was an Assistant Media Relations Director at Fresno State, with lead responsibility for the men's basketball and softball teams and directly assisted with football, and worked as a Director of Sport Information at Saint Mary's College. He also spent two years as a beat sports reporter for the Visalia Times-Delta. Reggiani received his master's degree in Sports Administration from Saint Mary's in 2005 and bachelor's degree in Mass Communication and Journalism from California State University, Fresno in 2001. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ NATE WILLS ASSISTANT A.D./ INTERNAL OPERATIONS Nate Wills is in his fifth year at Fresno State, joining the staff as Director of Events in the June of 2007. In September 2010, Wills was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Internal Operations. Wills is responsible for Fresno State's events operations, supervising all athletics events and related staff. He is Fresno State's chief scheduler for facilities and is responsible for coordinating various facilities projects including the new swimming and diving complex and a variety of other athletics projects on campus. Wills came to Fresno State after serving as the Director of Facilities and Operations at Ohio University (2005-2007) and Graduate Assistant for Facilities & Operations (2003-2005) where he also received both his Master's of Business Administration and Master's of Sports Administration. Prior to attending Ohio University, Wills received his bachelor's degree in Sport Management from Slippery Rock University while working in a variety of roles within the Athletics Department.
