4 Two Ways to See the World with the Alumni Association The Alumni Association is partnering with Collette Travel to offer two distinct travel opportunities in 2019. Reflections of Italy, summer 2019 This tour of Italy explores the cities of Rome, Florence, Siena, Venice, Assisi, Perugia and Milan. On this trip, you will discover the rolling hills of the scenic Tuscan and Umbrian countryside, explore medieval towns and visit the birthplace of St. Francis Assisi. You will see Renaissance masterpieces in Florence and hot glass transformed into exquisite art on Murano Island. You will spend two nights in romantic Venice and the journey will end in Milan including a visit to the magnificent Opera House La Scala. This trip departs June 12, 2019, and is 10 days. International Student Admissions and Programs Office Awarded 'E' Certificate On September 18, President Tim Foster and the International Student Admissions and Programs Office received the U.S. Department of Commerce "E" Certificate for Export award. United States Rep. Scott Tipton presented the award to a small crowd that included current international students and local Rotarians, who have donated funds to the international program throughout the years. The award celebrates the university's contribution towards increased United States exports. Annie Gingerich, director of International Student Admissions and Programs, applied for the award in 2017. • Iceland's Magical Northern Lights, fall 2019 The "land of fire and ice" is a place of many wonders, including the rare opportunity to see the spectacular aurora borealis or northern lights. Travel in Iceland will take you on an exhilarating evening northern lights cruise. You will travel to the "Golden Circle," home to many of Iceland's most renowned natural wonders. On this trip, spend time at Thingvellir National Park, the nation's most historic area, and gaze at the spectacular Gullfoss waterfall — one of the world's most incredible cascades. Explore Skogar Folk Museum and see the traditional turf-built homes. Walk on a black volcanic sand beach and see Jökulsárlón glacial lagoon filled with floating icebergs. This trip will also include a soak in the warm, mineral-rich water of the natural geothermal pool at the Blue Lagoon. Spend many of your evenings gazing at the night sky in search of the elusive and dazzling northern lights. This trip departs November 11, 2019, and is seven days.
