Second half of season
will test Badgers
UW will face four ranked opponents in Jan.
T
he first half of the season came as a pleasant
surprise for the Badgers. After finishing a campaign in
2011-12 that left a lot to be
desired, UW has come out
strong in 2012-13, posting a
5-2 record ― including going
2-0 in Big Ten Conference
action.
Wisconsin wrapped up the

year with a strong showing
at the Midlands Championships, placing three wrestlers on the podium at third
place.
But, with five league duals in the month of January
― including four against opponents ranked higher than
the No. 22 Badgers ― the
new year won't be easy.
For head coach Barry Davis, the intensity of the second half of the season is when it gets real and when it
is time for everyone to step up their
game.
"The second half of the season is
more intense," said Davis. "You have
to tighten your skills up and keep
building on what you already have
but with more perfection in your skill
work."
For Wisconsin, there won't be an
easy dual meet.
"Every weekend is going to be
tough," continued Davis. "Every bout
is going to be tough. As a team we
stress that. And we as a staff have to
be on our 'A' game with these athletes
to make sure they are where they
need to be."
At the end of the month, the Badgers will be able to look back and reflect on what they are made of. The
new year provides a new opportunity
for Wisconsin to write its destiny.
