International call-ups highlight UW's time off

ith the announcement
of the NHL lockout
coming to an end, some have
been exclaiming that "hockey is back."
The only problem is that
hockey never left! And that is
especially true for nine Badgers who were utilized by
U.S. and Canadian national
teams during winter break.

women's senior team's winter training camp in Blaine,
Minn., Dec. 27-31.

2013 IIHF Women's Under-18 World
Championship in Finland, Dec. 29Jan. 5. Sydney McKibbon and Sarah
Nurse won gold with Canada, while
Jenny Ryan took home silver with
the U.S. squad.
Additionally, former Badger Carolyne Prévost won gold with the Canadian U-22 team in the 2013 Meco
Cup in Germany, Jan. 2-6.
With all the winter international
competition going on, the Badgers
used their 3 ½-week break to rest up
and prepare for the second half of the
season.
The team returned to the ice on
Jan. 4 for a scrimmage against the
Minnesota Whitecaps, winning 4-0.
Jorie Walters played the entire game,
making 18 saves in the shutout.
Wisconsin now returns to regularseason action with a pair of games
against Ohio State this weekend at
LaBahn Arena.
As the NHL makes its comeback,
the Badgers look to take back to the
ice and finish off the second half of
the season on a high note.
