NEWS AND EVENTS HORAN SIGNS WITH PSG In an unprecedented move in women's soccer, 18-year-old Lindsey Horan from the Colorado Rush turned down a full ride scholarship to the University of North Carolina to follow her dream of being a professional soccer player. Paris Saint Germain in France has given her that opportunity as they signed the young star to a two-year contract starting this season. By all accounts, Lindsey is the youngest female soccer player from America to sign a professional contract in Europe! RUSH PLAYERS AT U17 WORLD CUP Morgan Stanton, Lizzy Raben and Gabbi Miranda recently represented the United States at the U17 Women's World Cup in Azerbiajan. Despite a win and two draws, the US team failed to advance to the knockout rounds on a tie-breaker. All three players saw plenty of minutes and Stanton even scored in the 6-0 win over Gambia! Great job ladies! [ RUSH FEST VIRGINIA A BIG HIT Three weeks of sun, sand and soccer greeted the attendees at the 2012 Rush Fest held in Virginia Beach. Over 500 players in three age groups attended the event. The Fest will head west for 2013 with Colorado Rush set to play host July 15th through July 25th in Denver. NATIONAL PLAYERS AND NATIONAL CHAMPIONS! U14 players Camryn Dyke (Colorado) and Roberto Hernandez (Texas) are the two newest Rush players to be invited into the USA Youth National Team programs. Both players attended U14 camp in August and are now in the pool of players to represent their country at that age group. On the team side of things, the U15 Colorado Rush Nike girls won the ECNL National Championship in June, and the U18 Florida Rush Nike boys won the USYS National Championship in July! See the club capsules for Colorado and Florida for more details. GOALKEEPER POINT OF THE WEEK The Goalkeeper Coaching Point of the Week is to be used to illustrate a goalkeeper specific coaching point for our coaches and players to focus on in any given week during the season. Too often these small things are overlooked and this can be used to help develop club-wide consistency in our expectations for goalkeepers. Also, this will help to develop a constant in the way that our goalkeepers are coached (terminology, positioning etc). There needs to be a conscious effort from staff to make sure we are enforcing these points in our training and games!
