ePortfolio aids students,
potential employers and faculty
An ePortfolio is an electronic portfolio students use
to exhibit their learning, experiences and work to
others — especially potential employers. A student's
individualized ePortfolio may feature a combination
of goals and career objectives, collection of essays,
photographs, videos, a capstone, social media links
and resume.
"When you showcase rather than tell your
achievements and experiences, you differentiate
yourself from the crowd," said ePortfolio and
Assessment Project Manager Tracy DeBellevue.
This new digital strategy is more than a personal
website for students, it is also a tool for the classroom
with features for faculty. Currently, 35 CMU courses
are integrated with ePortfolio, where students
may turn in work directly to their professors online.
Included among other benefits are six ePortfolio
segments: assessment, advising, career, graduate
programs, professional licensing and project
management support.
This pilot program will include a four-year phased
implementation plan including ePortfolio open labs
to educate and assist students with this new digital
technology beginning spring 2017.
Eighth annual student
showcase quickly approaches
The student showcase is a one-day event
highlighting student accomplishments
from different disciplines through exhibits,
performances, demonstrations, posters, readings
and oral presentations.
Students must find a faculty sponsor, and then
enter an application including an abstract online by
Wednesday, March 1.
Community members, alumni, students, faculty, staff,
family and friends are encouraged to attend the
student showcase held on campus Friday, April 28.
Student Nicholas Hill presents a restored,
antique letter press to judges and others at
the 2016 Student Showcase.
