LOADING THE BASES: Yvette Healy was named Wisconsin's softball head coach, the third in UW history.

PLANTING THE SEEDS: It was announced that Camp Randall Stadium would feature a synthetic playing surface for the opening of the 1968 football season. Wisconsin was just the second school in the nation to install Tartan Turf, designed by the 3M Company.
July 30, 1992
REPRESENTING THE 'W': UW swimmer Robert Pinter, an Olympian for his native Romania, advanced to the finals of the 200-meter butterfly at the Summer Games in Barcelona by swimming a time of 1:59.59 in the preliminary round. He was the first UW swimmer to compete in the Olympics since 1984.

Barry Alvarez announced that he would step down as head coach of the Badgers at the con- clusion of the 2005 season. Alvarez, also UW's Director of Athletics, announced that defensive coordinator Bret Bielema would take over as head coach.
