S even individuals who have made outstanding contribu9ons to high school athle9c and ac9vity programs have been selected to the 2015 Virginia High School Hall of Fame. Members of the Class of 2015, the 26th inducted, will bring total membership to 256. The Class of 2015 includes three athletes (Bobby Lockhart – John Handley HS; Alonzo Mourning – Indian River HS; Keena Schuler Wood – Broadway HS); two coaches (Ray Heatwole – Turner Ashby HS; Don McCool – Mount Vernon HS) and two contributors (Donald Darnton – Christopher Wren Associa9on, College of William and Mary; Ted Salmon – Clover Hill HS and Cosby HS). Sponsored jointly by the Virginia High School League and the Virginia High School Coaches Associa9on, the Hall is dedicated to preserving the rich heritage of outstanding achievements by students and adults in sports and ac9vi9es within Virginia's public high schools. Athletes are eligible for considera9on 10 years a(er comple9on of their high school careers and are judged primarily for their achievements in interscholas9c sports. Coaches are eligible a(er 15 years of experience or upon re9rement and are judged on the merits of their achievements at the high school level. Con‐ tributors are professionals who have rendered significant services in some other capacity such as administra9on, academic ac9vi9es, officia9ng, media or sports medicine. Nomina9ons are due Oct. 31 of each year for considera9on for the following year. Athletes and coaches are screened by a commi:ee from the Virginia High School Coaches Associa9on and contributors by a commi:ee from VHSL. Final se‐ lec9ons are made by a joint commi:ee.
