INSIDE
MEN'S HOCKEY
BY PAUL CAPOBIANCO @BADGERMHOCKEY
Old rivals, big challenges
lie ahead in 2014-15
Nine home series and exhibition on the docket
I
t is an exciting time for the
Badger men's hockey team.
With 10 newcomers cur-
rently in the fold for next sea-
son and just 15 skaters return-
ing, new stars will be born.
Those stars will emerge
against a tough schedule that
includes 20 Big Ten games,
with four each against 2014
NCAA runner-up and Big Ten
regular-season champion
Minnesota, Michigan, Mich-
gan State, Ohio State and Penn
State.
Many other familiar names
dot the non-conference sched-
ule with six former WCHA
rivals on the slate. North
Dakota, which ended UW's
2013–14 campaign, and Mich-
igan Tech visit the Kohl Center.
On the road, the Badgers will
take on Denver, Colorado Col-
lege, Alaska Anchorage and Northern
Michigan, with the NMU series taking
place at the Resch Center in Green Bay.
The Wildcats departed the WCHA in the
early 1990s. Add in 2014 WCHA regular-
season champion Ferris State, tradition-
al power Boston University, as well as
Alaska in its home state, and you've got
yourself a gauntlet of tough teams and a
steep learning curve for a young, but tal-
ented team.
Season tickets go on sale May 23.
