31 ter," he said, "and he followed back. He's a cool guy." Cooler than Hudson may have anticipated. "I didn't realize he's such a really genuine person," he said. "I kind of suspected it because that's who we recruit here. That's what I noticed about Coach (Gary) Andersen and Wisconsin in general. Every- body on this team is a gen- uinely nice person." Hudson added that the four early enrollees have "definitely bonded already." Besides Gillins' "cool" personality, he not- ed, "Jaden is a great guy, he's a teddy bear. At first, Michael is really quiet. But when you get to know him, the kid is hilarious. He's one of those unintention- ally funny people." Hudson has no trouble laughing at himself, either. "On my first day of school here," he said, "I was in a lecture hall with about 300 people and my chair broke. It wasn't a weight issue because obviously I've got to put on weight (He's 180). "But it was embarrassing. I also thought it was hilarious. I took a picture and saved it ― it's some- thing I can show my kids. A lot of embarrassing stuff that happens is a rite of passage." Andersen offered this overview of each of his four early enrollees: On Deiter: "This is a very interesting scenario. He's going to play center this spring with Dan Voltz being out with back sur- gery and Dallas Lewallen being out with knee sur- gery. He might find himself as the starting center at the University of Wiscon- sin instead of going to high school prom." On Gault: "Jaden had a little bit of work done with his knee, a scope, so he's slowed down right now. We'll see how that develops and how much he can get involved in spring ball. That put the brakes on him for now, but I still expect him to be in a position to get some good reps." On Hudson: "His athleticism shows up in the workouts. He's exactly what we thought he was. He has gained 10 pounds in two weeks and I expect HIGHLIGHTS: CLASS OF 2014 Regarding the early enrollee process, Andersen said, "Sometimes I'm in favor of it, sometimes I'm not. I was definitely in favor of these four. I'm glad they're with us. They're good kids and I think it's a good thing to have all four of them here (this semester).
