Seminary Synopsis Outside the walls O utside the Walls is a regular feature sharing the activities of the seminary faculty and staff as they work in the wider community and church. Our faculty and staff very much want to engage the church and help wherever possible in its ministry. If you have interest in someone's assistance, please contact them at your convenience. Dr. John Aukerman, professor of Christian education and director of distance education (jhaukerman@anderson. edu), has been working in many areas across the church and community during the past year. He retired from the board of directors of The LOGOS Ministry after 17 years but continues volunteering for Operation Love (Anderson, Ind.). He canoed the Boundary Waters Wilderness Area with his family and continues chairing the board of Silent Blessings Deaf Ministries. Additionally, he developed and taught a new M.Div. Seminary Synopsis | Spring 2013 course, "Disciplemaking in Christian Communities," and conducted a disciplemaking workshop at the Vista Grande Church of God, Colorado Springs, Colo., and Grosse Pointe Memorial Church, Grosse Pointe Farms, Mich. He also attended the Association for Theological Field Education conference in preparation for his new assignment as the seminary's director of field education in 2014. Dr. James Lewis, professor of Christian theology and ethics and director of the DMin Studies Program (jwlewis@ anderson.edu), has been busy on behalf of the seminary and church. He preached several times in Indiana and Texas, participated with other SOT individuals at the Duke Reconciliation Institute at Duke University, taught at the In-Service Training Institute of the National Association of the Church of God, and participated in and spoke at the annual gathering of The Ekklesis Project, DePaul University, Chicago. Lewis also directed the DMIN Intensive weeks in September 2012 and January 2013, facilitated the Association of Doctor of Ministry Educators Planning Meeting at Catholic Theological Union in Chicago, represented the Church of God at the Faith and Order meeting at Seattle University, and participated in the Leadership Development Board meeting in Chicago. Over the months ahead, Lewis will lead an undergraduate and seminary class for urban experiences in New York and Washington, D.C., represent the Church of God at the Faith and Order meeting in Puerto Rico, and serve as the president and convener of the Association of Doctor of Ministry Educators at their annual gathering in Chicago. Dr. Kimberly Majeski, assistant professor of Biblical studies (ksmajeski@anderson. edu), completed a second master's degree from the University of Notre Dame in January 2013. Majeski also presented a paper, "Priestesses and Godly Women: In Search of Prisca," at the Midwest Region of the Society of Biblical Literature at Olivet Nazarene University in Illinois. She has also preached in a variety of venues in Indiana and Tennessee. Majeski led women's conferences for Westlake Church of God Women's Retreat and the Ohio Christian Women Connection Convention. She also attended the Wesleyan Theological Society meeting and was a part of Christian's Broadcasting Hope Retreat at the Cove. David Neidert, director of student development (dlneidert@anderson.edu), works annually with leadership programs in Indiana.
