Badgers seeing results
of buying in to coaches
Wrestlers following the path of proven success
T
hroughout the renaissance the Wisconsin
wrestling team has experienced so far this season,
head coach Barry Davis has
said the key to success has
been the team's willingness
to "buy in" to what Davis and
his staff are teaching.

Medbery, who provided the

decisive win in Wisconsin's
upset of then-No. 11 Michigan last Sunday, said that the
Badgers' undefeated start to
the Big Ten season is indeed
a result of following the path
the Wisconsin coaching staff
has laid out for them.
"We're just buying into
what the coaches are telling
us," Medbery said. "Coach

Davis, Coach [Trevor] Brandvold,
Coach [Kyle] Ruschell, they have a
plan for us and we're following them."
The coaching staff is leading by
example. Davis, Brandvold and Ruschell combined for eight All-America
honors and three national titles during their respective careers, and it's
that track record of success that has
helped put the wheels of Wisconsin's
turnaround in motion.
"They're buying into the guys that
have been there and know how to get
where they want to go," Davis said
of his team. "If you want to get from
where you're are to where those guys
have been, you'll listen.
"You're going to go to the guys that
have been there and figure out how
they got there and some of the things
that they did."
The results of those lessons speak
for themselves. After going winless
in Big Ten competition last season,
Wisconsin already has three conference wins to its credit this year. But,
as Medbery said, there is still work to
be done.
"As great as this is, we have to keep
working hard, keep improving and
get ready to go," he said.
