Ramage, Badgers steal pair of overtime wins
O
ne of the greatest individual performances in
Wisconsin hockey came last
weekend in Mankato, Minn.,
as John Ramage led the Badgers to a series sweep over
Minnesota State with a pair
of dramatic overtime wins.
Scoring the game-winner
both nights, Ramage helped
the Badgers upset the thenNo. 11 Mavericks with a 4-3
win on Friday, then a 2-1 decision Saturday.
Ramage scored the winner on Friday with less than
a minute left in overtime,
then again Saturday with 6.2
seconds on the clock. Friday
marked the first time UW
had won either an overtime
road game or WCHA over-

time regular-season game
since Nov. 3, 2006 at Alaska
Anchorage.
Saturday gave UW backto-back overtime wins for
the first time since Jan. 1415, 2000 in one of the most
memorable series in Kohl
Center history against North
Dakota.
The remarkable series
sweep highlighted what
has been a strong group effort that sparked a dramatic
turnaround for a UW team
that was once 1-5-2 and in
a tie for 10th place in the
WCHA.
Now, the Badgers are tied
for sixth place in the league,
just three points out of the
top spot.
