T
he 2011โ12 WCHA sea- son begins its second
half this weekend and the 10th-place Badgers have set their sights on home ice for the WCHA playoffs. Wiscon- sin owns 10 points and the 10th position in the stand- ings, but sits just four points out of home playoff position. "The next four games are against guys that are right there with us," said head coach Mike Eaves. "It looks as an opportunity to gain some points. "We've set a goal in the
second half to get home ice. In order to do that, we have to win these games to
give ourselves a legitimate chance.
"So these are really two
big weekends coming up for us in order to accomplish the second-half goal that we set as a team." First, the Badgers travel
to Minnesota State โ a team that collected five points in its first 14 league games โ with Wisconsin (0-5-1 away from the Kohl Center) look- ing for its first road victories of the season. The Badgers then return
home to a series with Alaska Anchorage, which currently sits 11th in the WCHA with seven points.
