STAYING GREEN One of the driving principles of Alpine Bank's Green Team is its commitment to continuous improvement of the bank's environmental practices. This commitment is demonstrated in Alpine's two new bank branches in Fort Collins and Colorado Springs. In Fort Collins, the new branch is adjacent to the Colorado State University campus and was designed and built from the ground up. There was a focus on the future, with wiring in place for an electric vehicle charging station down the road. Other conservation eorts include infrastructure to make it possible to use less electricity and water, and optimization of the heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems. Environmentally friendly features of the Fort Collins building include LED lighting throughout the interior and exterior, motion-sensing light xtures in every room and programable and dimmable lighting in the common areas. During its construction, extra insulation was placed in the attic and exterior walls. Low ow plumbing features were installed. The building passed a rigorous blower door inspection to meet the standards set by the City of Fort Collins building department. And a programable HVAC system, with smart dampers for zoned systems, was also integrated into the design and construction. The Colorado Springs branch was retrotted at its location within one of the most visible and well-known buildings in the downtown core. Alpine Bank's renovation was underway for several months in 2022, and "greening" of the iconic building was a top priority. "We included a water bottle lling station, and hope to eliminate single-use plastic water bottle use entirely," says Colorado Springs market president Matthew Hanson. "We're saving on power and electricity and eliminating incandescent light bulbs in the new space. There are now long-lasting LED bulbs and light motion sensors to automate the lighting, so lighting is on only when necessary."
