FROM THE ALUMNI ASSOCIATION BOARD What a wonderful first half of the year we’ve had so far! Our Alumni Association Board of Directors is a committed group and has been working to make the alumni experience a terrific one for all. It is a pleasure to participate in all the year’s events, but there is one I have to boast about – the Etiquette Dinner. The quality of current students is remarkable. They are very polished, polite, smart and respectful. What a delight it was to spend an evening with them. The alumni board continues their efforts in developing handbooks for new chapter activity, enhancing the HandShake career services platform, improving relationships between faculty and students, and putting on engaging events. This year’s homecoming activities were so much fun — the parade, community spirit contest, campus sprit contest, victory dinner honoring some remarkable alums, all culminating with a big win over Dixie State. Hats off to the alumni events committee for their efforts. As my daughter Meredith (a CMU graduate) says, “How could it get any better?” It can! We just had over 500 graduates in December and for the very first time there will be a split spring ceremony. It will be separated by degrees to make for a more personable experience for graduating students and their families. The university is our legacy because we will be forever Mavericks. The universal connection and the elite group we belong to means a lot to us. We all need to find a way to return the favor of a top notch education. Let’s do what we can to improve the next generation’s opportunities however that may look. I just urge you to make the effort sooner than later. Go Mavs!
