DELANEY NEAL is a double major in kinesiology with concentrations in both K-12 teaching and adapted physical education. She is a formidable student leader, having served as the Council for Exceptional Children vice president last year, as well as being a resident assistant on campus. She was nominated for the ASG Humanitarian of the Year award in 2017 and did all of this while maintaining the President’s Scholarship for four years. She has attended the National Disabled Veterans Winter Sports Clinic for the past two years as a volunteer and will be returning again this March, where she aids disabled veterans through activities such as skiing and snowboarding. She completed her internship this past summer at Colorado Discover Ability. As a part of her internship, Delaney attended Camp Freedom, which helped 38 children with disabilities get a “classic camp” experience. During her student teaching she received nothing but praise from her mentors and students. • GARETT RODSTROM graduated last May with his Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering Technology. Garrett walked across the stage in December because he was unable to attend May Commencement since he was in Michigan racing with Mesa Motorsports, the engineering student club. Garret was the team president and the students built a Formula SAE car from scratch for the international competition. Before graduating, Garrett had companies like Tesla, General Motors and Honda pursing him but he chose to stay in Grand Junction and is now the engineer and maintenance supervisor at Western Filament, a textile manufacturing facility. • Colorado Mesa University conferred more than 560 degrees and certificates with nearly 100 students graduating with honors. The commencement ceremony featured five students who were recognized for their outstanding academic, personal and professional achievements.
