2012 FURMAN PALADINS p FOOTBALL ANTONIO GOSS Cornerbacks/Special Teams Coordinator League with the San Francisco 49ers and St. Louis Rams, is now in his second season as cornerbacks coach and special teams coordinator at Furman. Last year Goss coached Paladin All-America cornerback Ryan Antonio Goss, who spent seven years in the National Football Steed, a free agent signee of the New York Jets. Before coming to Furman, he served as safeties coach and special teams coordinator at Louisville (2009). Prior to his stint at Louisville, he directed cornerbacks and special teams at Middle Tennessee State (2006-08) and served as both linebackers and cornerbacks coach at the University of Buffalo for five seasons (2001-05). He began his collegiate coaching career as linebackers and special teams coach at North Carolina Central (2000) after working three years as a prep coach in the Chapel Hill, N.C. area. A 1989 graduate of North Carolina with a degree in sociology, assignment as linebacker and strength and conditioning coach at East Chapel Hill (N.C.) High School, where he served for two seasons. A native of Randleman, N.C., and product of Randelman High School, he and his wife, Marvine, have two daughters, Antoinette and Alexandria. THE ANTONIO GOSS FILE he starred as a linebacker and safety with the Tar Heels under coach Dick Crum and current University of Texas head coach Mack Brown. Following his Tar Heel career, he was drafted in the 12th round by San Francisco and was a member of two Super Bowl championship teams (XXIV and XXIX), seeing action as a backup linebacker and captain of special teams. He was chosen by his teammates to represent the 49ers as special teams captain along with defensive captain Tim McDonald and Hall of Fame receiver Jerry Rice in Super Bowl XXIX. He played the 1996 season with the St. Louis Rams, where he started five games and was a key special teams performer. JIMMY KISER Offensive Coordinator/Wide Receivers standout, returned to his alma mater in 2011 following a nine-year tenure at Vanderbilt, where he worked alongside Furman head coach Bruce Fowler and assistants Norval McKenzie and Mark Moehring. In addition to serving as offensive coordinator, he directs Fur- man's wide receivers. Kiser coached Vanderbilt's quarterbacks and also served as of- Jimmy Kiser, a 1979 Furman graduate and Paladin football backs, and in 2001 he accepted the position of offensive coordinator/ quarterbacks coach at Richmond. A graduate of Northwestern (S.C.) High School, Kiser was a wide fensive coordinator for one season and co-passing game coordinator for three campaigns. He mentored quarterback Jay Cutler, the 2005 Southeastern Conference Offensive Player of the Year who rewrote the Commodore record books on the way to becoming one of the top quarterbacks in SEC history and a first round, 11th overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft. In 2008 he helped Vanderbilt post its first winning season since 1982 and a victory over Boston College in the Gaylord Hotels Music City Bowl — the program's first bowl victory since 1955. Kiser began his coaching career as a graduate assistant at Furman under Dick Sheridan. After coaching three years (1981-84) at Dunwoody (Ga.) H.S., he accepted his first collegiate full-time assignment at Lenoir-Rhyne (N.C.) College as offensive coordinator. In 1986 he joined Sheridan's staff at N.C. State as receivers receiver and special teams standout at Furman, earning team MVP and second team All-SoCon honors after recording 39 receptions on the Paladins' 1978 SoCon title team. He also topped the squad in punt returns three times and twice paced Furman in kickoff returns. He graduated cum laude with a B.A. in economics and busi- ness administration and in 1982 added a master's in business from Clemson. Kiser and his wife, LeAnn, a 1983 Furman graduate, are the parents of four girls: Anna Baugher, Jodi, Jamie, and Kelly. THE JIMMY KISER FILE coach (1986-95) and later served as quarterbacks/receivers coach (1996) and offensive coordinator (1997-99) under Mike O'Cain. In 1997 N.C. State led the Atlantic Coast Conference in rushing offense and finished second in total offense, then topped the league in total offense the following year. During his stint as offensive coordinator, N.C. State's offense featured future NFL star Torry Holt.
