She is survived by her husband, Harold Linamen, AU professor emeritus of business, whom she married in 1984. Their blended families include daughter Elizabeth Rose (Brown) Roller, son James F. Brown, stepsons Dr. Larry Linamen BA '77 and Dr. Christopher Linamen BA '77, eight grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, along with a host of nieces and nephews. She is also survived by two brothers, Don and Gordon. Anna Maxine (Thompson) Miller BS '52 died Oct. 7, 2011. She married Russell Miller BA '53 on Aug. 19, 1951. She taught elementary school in Indiana and Minnesota. She is survived by her husband; two daughters, Pam (Miller) Shoot BA '75 and Cynthia Neta; two sons, David Miller BA '77 and Steven Miller '78; two siblings, Betty Cummings and Edgar Thompson; four grandchildren; and 13 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her son, Michael Miller, and a grandson, Stephen Hamer. Retha Mills Shultz BA '37 died Oct. 14, 2011. She was married to Clair Shultz BA '36, BTh '39. The couple served as missionaries in the West Indies and East Africa until retiring in 1970. Since 1988 she had suffered from nerve deterioration in her legs, which gradually limited her to a wheelchair and finally to bed. Her last nine years were spent at Bethany Pointe Health Campus in Anderson, Ind. Her husband, also at Bethany Pointe, died in 2006. Together they had two children, Carol (Richard) Lehner BS '60 and the Rev. Dr. David Shultz MDiv '76, five grandchildren, and 17 great-grandchildren. Mary Louise (Dodge) Wolfram BA '62 died Oct. 15, 2011. Before attending Anderson University, she studied at the Swedish Covenant Nursing School in Chicago with the intention of becoming a missionary nurse. She married Stanley Arthur Wolfram in June 1962. Together, they had three sons. In addition to caring for her family, Mary had an active career. She worked in a genetics lab at Indiana University while at the same time doing graduate work in library science. She was an assay chemist for a pharmaceutical company in Portland, Ore. She and her husband were also active volunteers. In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by her sons, Eric Wolfram, Anthony Wolfram, and Timothy Wolfram; two grandsons; and two stepgrandchildren. The Rev. Jack L. Burford BA '59 died Nov. 22, 2011, following a cardiac arrest. Jack was an ordained retired minister in the Church of God — Anderson, Ind. During his retirement, he served as an interim pastor in several churches throughout West Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Barbara (Staats) Burford '58; two sons, Ted Burford '78 and Brad Burford '82; three grandchildren and a foster grandson; a sister, Doris Young; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Tamara Burford, in 2007, as well as four brothers and four sisters. Shey Harris, a junior dance business major at AU, died Nov. 26, 2011. She was killed when a small plane she was flying in crashed near Crystal Lake, Ill. Her father, Ray Harris; sister, Ramie Harris, a student at Wheaton College; and a close friend, Chris Backus, a student at Indiana Wesleyan University, were also killed in the accident. Shey came to AU from Marion, Ind. She is survived by her mother, Sherry, and a brother, Blake. Eugene "Gene" W. Powell BA '48, BS '49 died Dec. 12, 2011. He served in the Air Force during World War II. After the war, he came to AU. He taught school and coached basketball in Madrid, Iowa, then was principal of Smith Center, Kan., grade school. In 1957, he returned to Hutchinson to teach and was a counselor at Liberty Junior High School. In 1970, he became principal of Partridge Grade School, retiring from education in 1978. He received a master's degree from Kansas State University in 1963. He was employed at the Hutchinson Post Office as a supervisor for eight years, retiring in 1986. On Aug. 30, 1946, he married Maxine (Detwiler) Powell '49, who survives. Other survivors include their children Kathy Sheffler, Janice Kyner, and Kenneth Powell; a sister, June Best; and eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three sisters, Louise Estep, Joy Hardacre, Eva Beth Carpenter; a grandson; and a great-granddaughter.
