A publication of the Medical Alumni Association and Medical School Foundation VITALS 22 22 GROWING OUR OWN The Leadership in Academic Matters Program LAM began as a new initiative designed for outstanding mid-career faculty who were recognized experts in their own discipline and who were at the point where they were ready to engage in institutional leadership. Started in 2004, the program was a way of cultivating leaders within the SOM who could go on to become the next department chairs.
