Academic Excellence In two seasons under head coach Suzie Grech, the Western Michigan women's soccer program has had success on the field and unprecedented success in the classroom. • 16 returning members from the 2010 team have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher. 12 of the 16 have a GPA of 3.5 or higher and Hope Spangler (3.89), Lauren Fearday (3.89), Megan Putnam (3.94), Anina Cicerone (3.96) and Kelsey Baskins (3.97) have the top five GPAs on the team. • The team as a whole has had cumulative GPAs of 3.22 (Fall 2009), 3.26 (Spring 2010), 3.47 (Fall 2010) and 3.54 (Spring 2011) under coach Grech. The team has shown a steady academic improvement each semester since her hiring in 2009. • The team was awarded the National Coaches Associa- tion Team Academic Award in 2010 for their 3.47 GPA. • Under coach Grech the Broncos have earned three Academic All-MAC honors, ending a drought that went back to 2006.
