SWIMMING / DIVING
The Louisville men's and women's
swimming and diving teams are coming off
banner seasons. The men's squad, after
winning the AAC crown, finished 11th at
the NCAA Championships behind a pair
of national titles from Joao De Lucca.
He was the first male swimmer to pull off
the rare 100, 200 free double since 1995.
The women's team, after winning its third
straight conference crown, scored its
highest team finish (15th) in school history
at the NCAA Championships. Kelsi Worrell
highlighted the success with a runner-up
finish and the eighth fastest time in school
history. Louisville, in total, had four first
team All-Americans. Also, head coach
Arthur Albiero was named the AAC Men's
Coach of the Year, De Lucca was AAC
Men's Swimmer of the Year, and Tanja
Kylliainen was the AAC Women's Swimmer
of the Year.
ARTHUR ALBIERO –
SWIMMING AND DIVING
"This is a fantastic time for our athletic
department and for our swimming and
diving program. We are fortunate to have
the best athletic administration in the
country. The ACC is already one of the top
conferences for swimming and diving as
it continues to improve at a fast pace. We
are honored to join this special group of
schools and we look forward to the high
level of competition."
