of the Way
F
rom the day that a medical student steps on to the Grounds of the
University of Virginia until Graduation Day and beyond, the UVa
Medical alumni association is there, thanks to your support.
Here is a glimpse of how your generous contributions to our annual
Fund have made a difference:
•
the Medical school Foundation has provided $5.2 million in endowment
support to the school of Medicine in the past three years, which includes
$3.2 million for scholarship support.
•
in august 2013, all 160 members of the Class of 2017 received
personally-embroidered white coats as they were welcomed to UVa and
the profession of medicine, thanks to generous donations from the Class
of 1965.
•
the UVa MedConnect mentoring program and Money talks financial
planning seminars, sponsored by the UVa Medical alumni association,
provide hundreds of students with practical career information each year.
•
Our Host program, which matches alumni nationwide with students
traveling for residency interviews, accommodated 124 requests with
alumni hosts for 58 students at 95 different medical centers across the
country the fall and winter of 2013-14.
•
to support our students and housestaff, the UVa Medical alumni
association offers many social events throughout the year to provide
opportunities for fellowship.
•
More than 200 people attended the UVa Medical alumni association's
Family day 2013, a fun and informative program for first year students
and family members which offers insight into the med school experience.
Our AnnuAl Fund secures the financial foundation for the UVa school
of Medicine. Your contributions are put to work immediately, helping to
define the experiences of today's students, housestaff and faculty. thank you
for your continued support.
