2014 VHSL BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS 108 V I R G I N I A H I G H S C H O O L L E A G U E Cindy Bomboske worked tirelessly and diligently in the development of high school forensics and de- bate at Monacan High School and throughout the entire Virginia high school speech community. She coached forensics and de- bate at Monacan from 1982-2006 and during that time produced three VHSL state championship teams in forensics (1989, 1990 and 1993) and over 35 in- dividual state champions in forensics. She was a co-founding member of the Virginia Association of Speech Coaches (VASC) which evolved into the VASDDC (Virginia Associ- ation of Speech, Debate and Drama Coaches). She served two terms as presi- dent and vice president as well as serving two terms on the Debate, Drama, Forensics Advisory Com- mittee for the VHSL. VAS- DDC named her Speech Coach of the Year in 1995; and she was selected Do- minion District Coach of the Year five times and Central Region Coach of the Year. Cindy Bomboske Contributor-Forensics and Debate Monacan John Williams has had a distinguished record of in- volvement in the Virginia Beach Public Schools, the Virginia High School League (VHSL) and the Virginia Interscholastic Athletic Administrators As- sociation. He served as First Colonial High School student activities coordina- tor from 1989-94 before moving to Ocean Lakes High School (1994-pre- sent). His service to the VSHL includes directing and hosting numerous dis- trict, region and state events, including Beach District golf, soccer, wrestling, boys tennis, girls tennis and gymnas- tics; Eastern Region soc- cer, boys tennis and gymnastics and VHSL state gymnastics and girls and boys soccer. He has served as VIAAA Secre- tary; VIAAA President; and VIAAA President-Elect. He was named VIAAA Group AAA athletic director of the year in 1999 and received the NIAAA State Award of Merit in 2001.
