Message Signatures Anderson University Alumni Quarterly Magazine P R E S I D E N T 'S Deborah Lilly BA '90, MTS '11 I t was Mayor Ed Koch of New York City who asked those he met along the streets as he walked about Manhattan, "How am President Edwards I doing?" It is a great question to ask those who love their college and who want the very best for her. So how are we doing? I have been listening, and the messages are overwhelmingly positive, encouraging. Parents of students say thankful words. Alumni are proud of historic developments and the vibrancy they feel on a visit. Some seem to know just how tough these times are for those of us pursuing Christian higher education. Many choices heighten competition, and the national conversations on the value of a college degree can be confusing. Mostly they want their favorite college to thrive. I am heartened by the graduates of Anderson University and our distinctive quality programs. We have alumni doing amazing things in almost every field of endeavor, from medicine and the sciences to ministry and social work, musical performance and worship leadership, teaching and the varieties of communication. An AU coffee cup can be found on desks in businesses and on tables of missionary giants serving the least of the least. We are so proud of all who have been shaped in positive ways by this good place and who have gone on to make a world of difference in the many cultures of opportunity and need. So how are we doing? Take a look at those who have been on the beautiful paths of our valley or who have taken our graduate programs around the region, and the answer will be one that lifts us beyond the challenges of today to all the possibilities of tomorrow. God bless them every one. James L. Edwards, President e d i t o r i a l a s s i s ta n t (765) 641-4238 dllilly@anderson.edu How am I doing?
