Wiscon- A 56 // VARSITY November 7, 2013 sin also rose from a preseason rank of No. 7 in both polls to No. 2, trailing only Minnesota. "The bye weekend definitely comes at a great time for us," senior assistant captain Madison Packer said. "It is a solid break after a long stretch of hard games and gives us some time to rest our bodies and really prepare for the upcoming trips." The next stretch of games will be important for the Badgers, as UW hits the road next weekend for Vail, Colo., to take part in the Vail Tournament. The Badgers will face two non-conference foes in Northeastern and No. 9 Boston University. The games round out the non-conference part of UW's schedule. Following the trip to the Rocky Mountains, Wisconsin faces a top-five showdown on the road at No. 4 North Dakota, before concluding the month with a trip to Minnesota Duluth. "Those are going to be three tough weekends that will mean a lot for us ranking wise, so it is good to get a break before we head into those weekends," Packer said. "It is also nice to have some time to focus on classes and get ahead if we need to, as we will miss a few days with the travelling coming up." DUGGAN NAMED CAPTAIN OF TEAM USA ● Former Wisconsin standout Meghan Duggan has been named captain of the United States Women's National Team and will serve as captain during the rest of USA Hockey's Bring on the World Tour as the squad prepares for the 2014 Olympics. A silver-medalist under UW head coach Mark Johnson at the 2010 Olympics in Vancouver, Duggan was UW's captain during the 2010-11 season as Wisconsin captured its fourth NCAA title.
