spotlight on success Congratulations to the following Johnson & Wales University students and faculty who have been honored this past academic year. PROVIDENCE DENVER Entrepreneurship major Jennifer LaSala '14 was named the 2013 Global Young Entrepreneur by the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship New England. Jennifer started her own online pastry shop, Sugar Coated Heaven, in January 2011. At the Colorado Phi Beta Lambda State Competition in April, 17 Denver Campus students placed in the top 10, including five first place and four second place winners. The winners competed in categories including hospitality management, human resource management, macroeconomics, integrated marketing campaign, management concepts, strategic analysis and decision making. Mari Dias, Ed.D., professor in the School of Arts & Sciences, received a Fulbright Scholarship that sent her to the University of Zululand in South Africa to train graduate students in theories and techniques this past summer. – read more NORTH MIAMI Jack J. Rose, associate professor in the College of Business and executive director of the Florida Association of Collegiate DECA, received the 2013 Edgar L. Fleming Outstanding Leadership Award commemorating his 50th year of involvement with DECA and Collegiate DECA. Department Chair and Assistant Professor Colin Roche, Ph.D., CEC, CCE, and College of Culinary Arts Dean Bruce Ozga, CEC, CCE, won the 2013 Idaho Potato Commission Innovation Award for "The College of Culinary Arts Edible Garden" on the North Miami Campus and its integration into the curriculum. – read more Kris Hefley, associate professor in the College of Business, received a certification in Advertising Ethics from the Institute for Advertising Ethics from the American Advertising Federation. – read more CHARLOTTE Instructor Josh Rosenbaum and the American Culinary Federation Awards (ACF) JWU Student Culinary Team won a silver medal and overall second place at the ACF North Carolina State competition. Senior Instructor Brian Campbell won the ACF North Carolina Chef Professionalism Award. – read more
