BLACK PEARLS VR/RUSH (Haiti) Black Pearls VR/Rush Prepare for Sweden & Norway On July 11, the Black Pearls Under-16 team will file into the team bus that they have become familiar with over the past few years. They will drive by exquisitely painted tap-taps (Haiti's shared taxis), green mountains that tower over the crystal clear Caribbean waters, and the energy of the Caribbean Culture that they've been raised in. With an exuberant mixture of nerves and excitement, they will say goodbye to their friends and family as they leave Haiti to participate in two of the World's top youth tournaments this summer: Gothia Cup & Norway Cup. Gothia Cup ("The World Youth Cup") will run from July 14-July 20th in Gothenburg, Sweden. After representing Haiti in front of the 48,000 people at the Opening Ceremony, the Black Pearls will gear up to play Mariestads BK (Sweden), CA Intercups (Mexico), and Assi IF (Sweden) in the first round. The Black Pearls have been training twice a day for months in preparation for the tournament. Following Gothia Cup, the Black Pearls will again aim to demand attention as they "Play Pearl" against 3 Norwegian-based teams: Hurdal, KFUM-KAM and Kolvereid IL in the first round of Norway Cup (July 27th-August 3rd). They do not only want to be the first Haitian team to attend this tournament, they want to be the first to win it. In two weeks, the Black Pearls will open their brand-new passports, and they will open their minds to a world they've yet to know. Instead of tap-taps, they will see Volvos, and a culture that could not appear more different than their home Island; and they will be there for one main reason- to show the world how talented, dedicated, and resilient they truly are. Event name: Honduras Rush at Denver Cup Event location: Denver Colorado Event date(s): August 1-4, 2013 The organization has planned several activities to raise funds such as soccer camps, country government requests, etc. Trusting in God and that several institutions of our country to support our young people to realize this travel and participate in the dream to make history, this event left an indelible mark on their lives.
