She has also fieldanchored several major events, including the Olympics. McCurdy is a 1959 alumnus of Anderson University. He holds a medical degree from the Indiana University School of Medicine. He had a surgical practice in Anderson for many years. He also served as the university's physician and worked with AU Professor Steve Risinger to build the university's sports medicine program. —Deborah Lilly ANDERSON UNIVERSITY Alumni Quarterly, Spring 2013 Colts coming back to campus A mmy® award-winning news anchor and Anderson native Andrea Morehead Allen addressed a new class of Anderson University graduates on May 11, 2013. The more than 650 graduates represented the undergraduate college as well as the graduate programs in the School of the Theology, Falls School of Business, and the School of Nursing. Allen also received an honorary Doctor of Humane Letters. Dr. Robert McCurdy received an honorary Doctor of Science. Allen is the daughter of AU professor James Morehead. She holds degrees from Howard University Students learn about Life After AU T nderson University wants college students to know what to expect after graduation, so they started the "Life After AU" program. "I hear from young alumni that they felt AU prepared them very well for the workplace or grad school, but they still had surprises and adjustments with other real-life issues," explains Ben Davis, director of alumni relations. "More than once I heard, 'I wish there were a class on learning how to be an adult.'" According to Kasey Kohlmorgen, annual fund manager, the program is a series of seminars designed to assist graduating seniors with postgraduate life. "Alumni we consider to be experts in their given fields sit on a panel and discuss a given topic," she explains. So far, speakers have covered topics on buying a car, real estate, understanding job offers, and handling debt. Jim Irsay, Colts owner, tweeted that the return is due in part to the "great Colts fans" in and around Anderson and the beauty of the Anderson University campus. The Colts at AU boosts the city's economy during the training camp. According to the Anderson Herald Bulletin, last year's training camp brought $6 million of extra revenue into the city during the two-week event. The Colts training camp also creates national exposure for both Anderson University and the Anderson community. Colts City, which features activities for both children and adults, will also return.
